Paving blocks are precast building materials shaped into blocks used for road surfaces, yards, and sidewalks. This study aims to evaluate the effect of adding cocoa shell ash (CSA) as a partial substitute for cement on the characteristics of Paving blocks. Tests were conducted with CSA mixture variations of 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15%, focusing on parameters such as compressive strength, water absorption, density, and raw material cost per sample. The results showed that the compressive strength of Paving blocks increased at 28 days coMPared to 14 days, with the highest value at 0% CSA mixture reaching 15.38 MPa. The highest water absorption was found in the 15% CSA mixture at 4.98%, while the highest density was recorded in the same mixture at 2.40 g/cm³. In terms of cost efficiency, the 15% CSA mixture yielded the lowest raw material cost per sample at Rp813.7. Thus, the addition of CSA can reduce production costs, although it may decrease certain mechanical properties of the Paving blocks.
