Pra Rancangan Pabrik 1,3-Butadiena dari Bahan Baku Etanol dengan Kapasitas 30.000 Ton/Tahun

1,3-Butadiene is a colorless gas at room temperature belonging to the group of conjugated dienes, as it has two double bonds separated by a single bond. The 1,3-butadiene plant is designed to meet domestic demand and applies chemical engineering principles in the production process design. This plant has a capacity of 30,000 tons per year and is located in Panjang District, Bandar Lampung City. The raw material used is 95% ethanol from PT Indonesia Ethanol Industri. The production process consists of two stages: first, the dehydrogenation of ethanol into acetaldehyde and hydrogen at 250°C and 1.7 atm pressure; second, the reaction between ethanol and acetaldehyde (in a 3:1 ratio) to form 1,3-butadiene at 330°C and 3 atm pressure. Both reactions occur endothermically in a multitube fixed-bed reactor. The separation process involves a flash drum to separate hydrogen and two distillation columns to obtain 1,3-butadiene with 99.97% purity. Economic analysis results indicate that this plant is feasible to build, with a Return on Investment (ROI) of 44,11%, Break Even Point (BEP) of 44,84%, Shut Down Point (SDP) of 25,91%, Payback Period (PBP) of 2,27 years, and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 28,35%. Risk evaluation shows that the plant falls into the low-risk category.
