ELECTROSPINNING CeO₂ SEBAGAI MATERIAL FOTOKATALIS LIMBAH CAIR CONGO RED
pengolahan limbah cair maupun organik. Cerium III Nitrate Hexahydrate / PVP /
terdegradasi sebesar 91,76 %

ABSTRACT
One of the textile industry wastes is Congo Red dye which is a synthetic dye that is
difficult to decompose and contains toxic chemical compounds that can pollute the
environment. Electrospinning is a fabrication technique to produce nanofibers that
have lengths or diameters ranging from nanometers to micrometers. Photocatalyst is
one way or method that is effective in processing liquid and organic waste. Cerium III
Nitrate Hexahydrate / PVP / solvent will be electrospinning and then calcined for
characterization and photocatalyst testing. From the SEM results obtained, Cerium
Nitrate Hexahydrate / PVP with a concentration of 1 mmol has a smooth and uniform
surface of each magnification, either from 25,000x or 10,000x, then calcined at a
temperature of 500 ° C it has been seen that CeO2 on the surface turns rough and there
are holes and large connections. XRD characterization shows the crystal structure of
the FCC and is seen at the highest peak at an angle of 28.53̊ correlated to the plane
(111) which is the pure peak of CeO2. The degradation of CeO2 photocatalyst against
Congo Red showed that in 130 minutes CR had been degraded by 91.76%
