PEMANFAATAN CITRA SENTINEL-1A UNTUK PEMANTAUAN DEFORMASI GUNUNG SINABUNG MENGGUNAKAN METODE DINSAR TWO-PASS DAN THREE-PASS PADA PERIODE JANUARI-AGUSTUS 2021

Mount Sinabung is an active volcano out of 129 volcanoes in Indonesia, to be precise, in Karo District, North Sumatra. In January - July 2021 the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation noted that volcanic activity had occurred on Mount Sinabung. The volcanic activity that occurred caused deformation of the surface area of Mount Sinabung. The deformation that occurs on the surface of Mount Sinabung can be measured through various methods including using the Global Positioning System (GPS) method and the Differential Interferometry Synthetic Aperture Radar (DInSAR) method. In this study monitoring of the deformation of Mount Sinabung was carried out using the two-pass and three-pass DInSAR methods through two types of polarization namely VV and VH which were then compared with the GPS method through the strength of the relationship resulting from the large value of the coefficient of determination to get the best DInSAR method. The data used in the DInSAR method are Sentinel-1A imagery data from January to August 2021 and Digital Elevation Model Shuttle Radar Topography Mission-3 sec (DEM SRTM-3 sec) data, while the data used in the GPS method is observational data from the observation points of Mount Sinabung in the April-June 2021 timeframe. The results showed that the DInSAR method, the three-pass VV polarization technique, was the best method for measuring deformation with a coefficient of determination of 0.5709 and a strong connection strength. Based on the DInSAR method of the thre- pass VV polarization technique, the deformation that occurs on the surface of Mount Sinabung is a deflation and inflation type deformation. The biggest deflation was experienced in April-June 2021 with a value range of -0.48 to -0.12 m, this is related to the volcanic activity of Mount Sinabung which was very active during that time. Meanwhile, the biggest inflation was experienced in June-August 2021 with a value range of 0 to 0.24 m, this is related to Mount Sinabung's volcanic activity which has begun to decline.
